Habakkuk 2:2-3 says, “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
It has been for sometime that God has laid it upon my heart to write. Yet as with many things, sometimes it seems that the vision tarries. It seems that there is no way that the vision will come to pass. Situations and circumstances seem so insurmountable and we begin to walk by sight and not by faith. However, God is not a man that He should lie. His word cannot and will not return unto Him void. It will accomplish that which it sets out to do. This blog is the fruition of that vision. It comes not by the will of man but by the will of God.
Why “The Scroll?” The inspiration came from 2 Corinthians 3:2-3, “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.” Paul says that our lives are letters, read and studied by all men. As we begin to become hearers and doers of the Word of God, we find that in a real sense we become living breathing Bibles. The Word of God becomes etched into our hearts, not through physical markings but by the “the Spirit of the living God.” Our lives become transformed and that transformation is visible to all who see us. We then become God’s “scroll”.
In the olden days a scroll was generally a roll made with either papyrus or leather, it was used for writing. Its main purpose was to transmit information. Likewise, our lives transmit information. Even when we are silent, our bodies are speaking or transmitting. We have a choice about the kind of information we transmit. It is God’s purpose for us to be His scroll and that we will transmit a message of love to a world that is fast heading to destruction. He wants to give the world a practical example of true godliness. He wants our lives to be a demonstration of the power of the gospel, whether you are a Christian or not, this is God’s will for your life.
The purpose of this “scroll” is to transmit messages of love from Christ. Its sole purpose is to lift Him up so that men and women may look to Him and be saved. The topics that are covered will vary but will at its heart be present truth or truth that is applicable for the times in which we live. I believe that Christ is coming very soon and through whatever means at my disposal, the responsibility lies within me to get ready and be an instrument in the hands of the Lord to reach others.
